Catastrophe Bond

A catastrophe bond is a special financial tool used by insurers to transfer extreme weather or disaster risks to investors. If a major disaster strikes, investors lose some or all of their money, which helps the company pay claims.

If no disaster happens, investors get their cash back with high interest.
